George M. Steinbrenner Field
Opened in 1996, George M. Steinbrenner Field is the Spring home of the New York Yankees, the full-time home of the Tampa Yankees (Single-A affiliate) and host to numerous other special events including concerts (i.e. Rod Stewart, Natalie Merchant, Moody Blues, Sting, Chicago, etc.), Florida State High School Championships, Preliminary Olympic Baseball and visits from President George W. Bush.
Tampa Yankees: The Tampa Yankees were founded in 1994 and won the Florida State League Championship in 1994, 2001 and 2004. Many current Yankees players have made rehabilitation starts for the Tampa Yankees at George M. Steinbrenner Field, including Derek Jeter and Roger Clemens.
Seating Capacity: 11,000+ total seats (Reserved Seating, Field Box’s, Right Field Deck) and 13 Luxury Suites (each with a capacity of 20 guests)
Attendance: 174,661 fans attended the New York Yankees Spring Training Games in 2008 (15 games), the highest total among all Major League Baseball Teams. The Tampa Yankees average approximately 1,500 per game each summer.

47% are from the Tampa area, with another 27% residing in the Northeast
62% are ages 25-54, with another 15% ages 65
Internet: George M. Steinbrenner Field’s web site (steinbrennerfield.com) averaged approximately 8.7 million visitors from November, 2008 through March, 2009 (to coincide with the Spring Training season)
Television: In 2009, seventeen (15) New York Yankees Spring Training Games were broadcast to a regional and/or national viewing audience – 12 YES Network, 1 FOX-Sports, 1 Boston, 1 Minnesota. |
